Cracker Barrel Salutes Veterans with Month-Long Celebration

Cracker Barrel Salutes Veterans with Month-Long Celebration November 8, 2012

Are you looking for a way to get a head start on your Christmas shopping and support the troops at the same time?  Here is a great initiative that offers you the opportunity to do just that!

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store salutes veterans of the United States military, many of whom are guests and employees, with a special month-long celebration of Veterans Day in addition to year round efforts.   From November 1 through November 30, 2012, Cracker Barrel will donate 10% of the retail sales price of special patriotic items, up to $25,000 to Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).  The items include Cracker Barrel’s signature Peg Game in red, white and blue; a Patriotic Jelly Belly 10 Flavor Gift Box; and an American Flag Tervis Tumbler.  All of the items are available online online and at all Cracker Barrel locations.

Cracker Barrel has a tradition of supporting organizations that provide for the needs of our service men and women and veterans.  The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization that assists injured service members and their families with programs and services designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment.  WWP’s purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services which will benefit them in both the short-term and the long-term.  Cracker Barrel has assisted the Wounded Warrior Project since 2006 through various promotions and initiatives.

“Last year was the first time we modified our signature Peg Game because it was a special way for us to show our support of the military,” said Cracker Barrel President and CEO Sandy Cochran. “The idea really resonated with our guests, so we expanded the offer with additional special products that we hope will have wide appeal and provide worthwhile support for those who have served our country.”  In addition, Cracker Barrel created an informational flyer, “Why do we celebrate Veterans Day?” that is available at no charge in all of their stores and can also be downloaded online.

I’m thankful for companies such as Cracker Barrel that understand the importance of honoring our veterans and provide practical ways for us to recognize and support their service!
