We kept hearing the phrase “irregular marriages” during the Synod on the Family, and I kept thinking to myself, “Whose marriage isn’t irregular?” Obviously they meant people who have kids before marriage, or whose annulment hasn’t come through, but man, even when things go by the book, I got your irregular right here. Ignatius Press has a new novel, The Accidental Marriage, about a marriage that is highly irregular:
Scott and Megan are both involved in separate same-sex relationships. When Megan and her lover decide to have a child, Scott offers to help. But after Megan is abandoned, Scott comes up with an unconventional plan to help her in her time of need. As the two begin to mutually sacrifice their own desires to help one another, their friendship deepens.
The author describes the book as “a love story, not a romance.” Ignatius Press interviewed him here — a good read, lots of ideas to ponder. Sounds like a thoughtful book populated with complicated people, designed to correct a lot of bad ideas about love and marriage, but also to give us a good story. I’m happy to be able to give away one copy of this book.To enter the contest, you must use the Rafflecopter form at the bottom of this post! I’ll close the contest on Tuesday at midnight (changed, since Rafflecopter is being a butt and wants to charge me $8 to change the time to noon on Monday), and will announce the winner after that. Good luck!
