Sometimes really long comments get eaten. Especially really, really long comments with lots and lots of links in them.

This is, depending on one’s technological savvy, worldview, theology and/or self-concept, evidence that:

1) Disqus and similar platforms remain sometimes frustratingly imperfect software; or

2) There is a conspiracy to silence you from people who Just Can’t Handle The Truth.

In completely unrelated news, Glenn Greenwald notes that the hopeful scenario I describe as one possible consequence of the death of Osama bin Laden is only the rosier possibility. “I hope you’re right,” he says. But he sees the opposite response as more likely, describing that in more detail today in a post linked to here — “The bin Laden dividend” — that I will let you follow the link to read lest my attempts to summarize it are insufficiently laudatory and thus received as deliberate distortions, personal attacks, etc. The scenario he describes — a ratcheting up rather than a winding down of the GWOT and its tactics — is, depressingly, all-too plausible.

In any case, you can read Greenwald’s Disqus-eaten comment to the earlier post here, but be nice and try not to envision it as being read by Steve Allen in a fedora.
