I never should have left New Jersey

I never should have left New Jersey 2013-08-04T01:13:46-04:00

So, hey, speaking of William Lloyd Garrison (he said, quickly tossing up another post on something less contentious so as to ensure that there's a non-flamewar thread option available for those not eager to rehash perennial fights), here's the song that was stuck in my head this morning shoveling the driveway.

So the first thing I had to do coming inside was look up the lyrics.

Quite annoying when you: A) Can't get a song out of your head; and also B) Can't remember what comes after "I'm doing 70 on 17, I'm doing 80 over 84."

Anyway, great song, even if I'm not really sure what it's about.

You can hear the full-length version here.

Sliceofpie Oh, and pie.

Just one slice, because this is shoo-fly pie — delicious, but very rich and very sweet. No one ever needs more than one slice of shoo-fly pie. But one small slice, with a mug of strong black coffee, is pretty awesome.

Ditto for pecan pie.

Here is Alton Brown's recipe for shoo-fly pie. And here is a shoo-fly pie recipe adapted from the More With Less Cookbook, which should probably be regarded as an authoritative source on the topic.
