When you work at a newspaper, getting called in on your day off usually means something bad has happened. Big news is usually bad news.

But not this time.

The capture of Saddam Hussein is tremendously good news. More on this later — for now I'm going to go get me some time-and-a-half.

N.B.: By chance, this account from ABC News Australia was the first I read. An unintentionally amusing bit at the end, as the report loses track of the antecedent:

The arrest is a major boon for US President George W Bush after seven months of increasingly bloody attacks on US forces and their allies following Saddam's ousting on April 9.

His campaign for re-election next year has been overshadowed by mounting casualties and wrangling with key allies over Iraq.

It may break the spirit of some of his diehard supporters and ease anxieties of many Iraqis who lived in fear for three decades under a man who led them into three disastrous wars.

I'm not sure, but I think the "his" in that last paragraph refers to a different person than the "his" in the preceding sentence.
