Thank you again (and, also, please)

Last week, for the first time in 2023, the Slacktivixen was back at work for a full week. That was ambitious and involved a bit of negotiation — the latest lung scan showed she’s not quite 100% pneumonia-free like her doctors wanted, and she basically hibernated through the weekend — but she’s determined to get back to the life she had before the Big Scary Time that started this year.

We’re both more grateful than we can express for the generosity and assistance so many of you showed us. That got us through what would otherwise have been an impossible situation. We cannot thank you enough.

Getting sick is expensive. It introduces new costs while, at the same time, drastically cutting your income. Disability helps with that, but it’s got a lag time that I don’t know how people survive if they don’t have outside support like what many of you provided us back in January. Retroactive disability checks make for retroactive payments on bills, and those get expensive too.

We do have Aflac. That supplemental insurance was terrific for us back in the Year of Tendonitis, but they’re still stonewalling us this time around. They say they’re still not wholly convinced that my wife was unable to work for the two weeks she spent in a medically induced coma on a ventilator. We’ve got a lawyer friend — a guy who just last week was finally able to get his first proper hair cut in five months — who’s helping with that, and if and when that comes through, we’ll be fine.

But it hasn’t come through yet. And so, if you have the means and the inclination:

Here is my PayPal account. I am also on Venmo as @George-Clark-61.

Thank you again for the tremendous help you provided us through the first half of this year. And thank you in advance to anyone who is able to help us at this time.
