If there’s one thing that’s been drilled into our kids is the concept of “stranger-danger.” But in this quest to make our children “safer,” we’ve essentially made them more afraid of everyone they don’t know. Which, in their young lives, is a lot of people. What’s better is to proactively prepare our children for what to do in various social situations–and who would be the safest people to approach (mothers with young kids, police officers, retail workers). In this week’s video blog, I share how we’ve prepared our kids without resorting to telling them not to talk to strangers.
