A Pre-Pascha Tin Cup Rattle

A Pre-Pascha Tin Cup Rattle April 3, 2017

It’s just under two week til Easter! Are you ready? Have you stocked up on eggs? Baked your babka? Been to confession? Looked up the times for liturgies and services at your church? Twice, because there’s always that one disastrous typo in the bulletin? Tipped your favorite blogger?

Oh, you didn’t know that tipping your favorite blogger was a Holy Week tradition?

Well, how about we start a new one?

Michael and I are very fortunate to have this blog and to know all of you, and we’re very grateful for your readership. We’re very thankful that we’re better off than we’ve been in the past, but we never have much wiggle room to spare, and holidays are always wiggly times of year with a million surprise expenses. Not to mention I’m still on the weird vitamin supplement that calms my autoimmune symptoms but isn’t covered by Medicaid, my daughter has the audacity to no longer fit into most of last year’s springtime clothes, and we’re still trying to pay those stupid utility bills.

We do get a paycheck from Patheos for our writing, but at this point the vast majority of our monthly income comes from tips. So this is one of those times that I rattle the tin cup, pass the Easter bonnet and humbly ask: if you like what you read, give me a tip. If you don’t like what you read but want to be nice anyway, give me a tip. If you can’t give me a tip now, give me one when you think of it. If you have no money for tips ever, say a prayer for us, keep clicking and reading and passing the blog along and we’ll keep you in our prayers. A lot of the tips we get are of the five-and-ten-dollar variety. Any amount is greatly appreciated.

How do you tip? It’s easy! If you’re on a regular computer, look to the side of the page.————->
You will see that underneath the four pictures labeled “Popular at Patheos Catholic,” there is a yellow “donate” button. Click that button and PayPal will walk you through giving a tip.

If you’re on a smartphone, you may not be able to see the button. But up at the top of my page under the Steel Magnificat banner, there are three tabs that say “home,” “about,” and “donate.” If you tap on “donate,” that will take you to a yellow “donate” button of your very own.

And may God grant you and yours a blessed remainder of the Lenten season and a glorious Easter.
