Petra By Night with Peter West Carey

Stumbled across this image a few days back.

Picked your chin back up off the ground yet? Take your time. I can wait.

Those photographs come from Peter West Carey, and they’re spectacular. But I had no idea what I was looking at when I first saw them, other than knowing that it was Petra, and that they were gorgeous. Apparently, this “candle-lit Petra” is a bit of a thing, though. From the Visit Jordan website:

To visit Petra during daylight is awe-inspiring; to experience it at night by the light of 1,800 candles is truly out-of-this-world! Walk through the Siq to the Khazneh following a candle-lit path and enjoy the haunting music of the Bedouins at the Treasury. Tours start at 8.30pm and finish at 10.00pm every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Oh, I almost forgot. It’s also the setting of the finale of my favorite of the Indiana Jones films. Good times; good times.
