All joking aside, now, Susan Estrich needs help

We’ve been reading for a few days now about Susan Estrich’s latest meltdown and her loud, obnoxious efforts to curry favor with the LA Times by screaming at them. She says she speaks for many women. She writes a letter over the names of 50 of them and then threatens Michael Kinsley that if he doesn’t publish it, she’ll just have to walk it over to Drudge.

When Kinsley rightly bristles at being strong-armed and, essentially, blackmailed, Estrich rants that he owes her an apology – no one in the whole wide world has ever been as good to Kinsley as she, and she’s been SO nice to him because of his health concerns…(Kinsley has Parkinson’s disease.)

She is SO sensitive to his health issues that this tolerant, compassionate, empathetic woman actually writes: people are beginning to think that your illness may have affected your brain, your judgment, and your ability to do this job.

And now, finally, we may ask it of Ms. Estrich…Have you no decency? Has your unending rage brought you to this? Finally, madam…have you no decency?

Forget the fact that Estrich’s remark is technically ignorant because Parkinson’s while it affects motor function, does NOT affect brain function.

Her remark is ignorant because it just plain ignorant.

I don’t know about the 50 women whose name she attached to her letter, but if I were them, I’d be pretty upset right now, to see my name associated with hers.

And if Estrich thinks she is serving women with her shrewish, intemperate and spitefully nasty rants, she is so dead wrong, it cannot be said enough.

Ms. Estrich is simply vile and grotesque. And staggeringly, breathtakingly classless.

UPDATE: Charlotte Allen (who, being the “wrong sort of woman” ie, not a rampaging feminist, was dissed by Estrich as “a feminist-hater I have never heard of, nor probably have you, by the name of Charlotte Allen… her only book was about Jesus and religion written eight years ago…”) is keeping up with it all, too.

Seriously, Ms. Estrich needs an intervention, or something. No one can have that much hate and anger inside and live for very long.
