The Meme is Decided: “Fake” news

The Meme is Decided: “Fake” news 2015-03-13T20:45:44+00:00

Several days after the Air America/Boys and Girls Club Monies story broke, the left side of the blogosphere has finally constructed its meme and decided that the best way to combat the blogswarm is repeat the word FAKE. The story is FAKE, the source is FAKE, the right-wingnuts are a bunch of FAKERS, and it’s FAKE and everyone is FAKING..

Obviously, Al Franken, author of Lying Liars and the Lies Tell had something to do with the creation of this meme…

Except, as Brian Maloney points out – Air America is doing a “fixing” to make this supposedly FAKE story go away.

Oh, and Brian – according to the lefty blogs – is “sweaty.” Because when you have nothing else, name-calling is always the tool to fall back on. The Poltiburo Diktat has more on the charges of FAKERY and name-calling. Apparently Mahablog has decided she wants to take the lead on this story, (but you can see the meme spreading here) so she’s doing a lot of mocking, jeering, name-calling and re-phrasing (per Politburo).

If you want, you can read Mahablog’s entry, the update, and the comments. Here’s the short version (of the world according to Mahablog):

BEFORE:

“How to Fake News … it can’t be verified … I couldn’t find [Bronx News] thru Google … Bronx News which may or may not exist … the elusive Bronx News …”

AFTER:

“I never said this was fake news nor that the Bronx News didn’t exist. I only said that the drooling, knee-jerking, pathetic, desperate, abusive Kool-aid-drinking twits were engaged in a circle-jerk based on a rinky-dink newspaper’s undersourced report.”

Oh .. okay. That’s very rational and reasoned….

Mahablog was featured, you may remember, along with Betsy Newmark, in a recent WaPo magazine article on the polarization of the blogosphere.

I have never seen Ms. Newmark use such invective on her site, ever. Maybe it’s a sophistication thing, or something.

Meanwhile, the lefty blogs are writing HUGE posts on this FAKE story. While Air America says to Brit Hume:

An Air America spokesman says, “We’re committed to paying this money and the terms are being worked out… We are awaiting direction from the investigation into how to proceed.”

A FAKE story…but real money will be paid back. Go figure.
