So, if you pick up a bulletin at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, in Forest Hills, NY – you will find this amusing piece which explains to Catholics that yes, they are supposed to participate in Holy Mass, even if they are on vacation!

VFTP: Yes, sister. Cute. Now. Tell me, please, is it true we can skip Mass if we’re on vacation?

THEO: You’re kidding, right? Is there a hidden camera in here?

VFTP: No. That’s a serious question. Some people have been saying you don’t have to go to Mass if …

THEO: Stop right there. I’m holding a tennis racket, fella, and I know how to use it. Where do you people come up with these things? Canon Law is clear:

“On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass.” It’s an obligation.

VFTP: Ouch! What’s with hitting me with the racket?
