I just realized that today is my one-year blogging anniversary!
A pal of mine suggested that since I have no idea what to say beyond, “hey, I’ve been doing this a year and it’s been fun and I’ve loved meeting all you folks,” I should perhaps find my favorite post of the last year and slap it up here in a sort of “look at me! I love me, don’t you just love me, too?” bit of shameless self-promotion.
But I can’t think of what my favorite post is – truth is, I write so much that half the time I find an old piece and say…”Oh. I said that? Wow, who knew I could think that hard?”
I do recall one piece I wrote a while back, a piece that jumped off of an observation that Ann Althouse had made, something about the “Cult of Good Health,” I don’t remember what I said, but I remember liking the saying of it. I’ve enjoyed all my rants about feminists, and I sure had fun writing the “DemoBrat” book treatments and writing to Mo Dowd, and I’ve loved writing about Buster (perhaps this is my favorite, after all) and about faith and sharing and learning from so many of you. And when my brother was going thru his last, it was…well, it was very helpful to be able to write about it, and to know that you folks didn’t mind my indulging my need to do it. I love the fact that the Anchoress Bookshelf helps contribute to his hospice and that so many of you very clearly go out of your way to do your Amazon shopping through here, so that a great facility can reap the benefit, and I am ever grateful to the folks who have pushed the donation button from time to time and helped me feel free to use as much bandwidth as I need! My heart is very grateful to you all. I find it pretty humbling that any of you would seek me out, to begin with – the additional support leaves me feeling like I really want to do my best, and I hope I have been doing that.
So, one year down. Almost half-a-million hits. Not outstanding, but not-too-shabby. I’ve never aspired to be more than a Playful Primate, but to be honest, I’m quite happy being a Large Mammal, roaming around the blogosphere and nibbling here and there at the various feasts, and bringing stuff back to share with you.
Thanks for reading, and sharing it all with me.
