Sorry for the false start, there, I thought I was fully back but circumstances proved differently. My lack of blogging was less about my own health, though, than about my FIL comind down with pneumonia (I believe he’s on the mend, now) and the usual work of getting Christmas going – simply put, real life had the temerity to interfere with blogging…how rude!
I hope to be able to post something in a few hours on the beautiful O Antiphons of Vespers in the last week of Advent.
Meanwhile, a few quick links –
I like the idea here at Conservative Voice. While it’s not surprising to see Bono and the Gates’ on the cover of Time Magazine, seeing JPII and Benedict XVI on the cover as “Men of the Year” would have been pretty wonderful. Never happen, of course, Benedict – who is proving to be a most pastoral pope – is unreasonably and unjustly hated by many in the fourth estate, and there is a motive behind that.
Also, check out Prof. Bainbridges thoughts on the meltdown at Hollywood Presbyterian.
On a completely different topic, Neo-neocon has written a reflective and absorbing piece on coming to terms with our parents as they age and become ill. As part of this weekend was spent dealing with my FIL coming down with pneumonia (he is doing better, thankfully) after his suffering a minor stroke earlier in the year…well, we all have to face these things sooner or later. Neo has a great deal of wisdom to share.
Paragraph Farmer has some thoughts on water and the spirit or at least watery allusions.
Finally, John Hawkins has posted the ten most outrageous quotes from DU. I dunno, they seem pretty tame to me, this year.
