This is a terrific 17 minute video put out by the Paulist priests.
It’s very funny in spots, but also very poignant, and in some places deeply moving, as they talk about being “Missionaries to North America” and the meaning of “God With Us.” There is open, upfront talk about the pain Catholics are feeling about the trust-breaking scandals of the past, and remarkable witness to the grace and action of “meeting God” through each other in the sacraments; it’s pretty remarkable. These fellows seem to have what Atlanta’s Archbishop Wilton Gregory says the world needs: a passion for the gospel.
Hope you enjoy it.
UPDATE: Congrats to Deacon Greg Kandra for having his piece, Laughing in the Upper Room honored by Busted Halo as one of the Best Catholic Essays of 2007.
Also, with the church beset on some sides and working within a deeply cynical and over-busy world, a story like this one by Fr. James Martin, is always welcome.
