Charles Gibson's Holy War & Sarah Palin

Charles Gibson's Holy War & Sarah Palin September 19, 2008

If he was any sort of man, Gibson would apologize to Gov. Sarah Palin for deliberately misquoting her, and for his condescending tone, and for his “cueing” the left to their talking points, and for his relentless unprofessionalism and obvious disdain.

He won’t. But he should. This is a pretty strong video. And it makes me remember while I like Palin.

Also: Ann Althouse has thoughts on the egregious Obama/Rush Limbaugh ad, an ad that proves the Obama camp is either full of liars or too stupid to understand parody and irony. Perhaps they are both. Althouse says she hopes that Rush’s insertion into the campaign discourse will force Obama to “at least talk” about the false and misleading ads. I say fat chance of that happening. The press will not ask Obama to talk about anything that makes him the tiniest bit uncomfortable.

In fact, the press – since it has no more credibility – has only one way to continue to affect this election and its outcome, and that is by selecting what will and will not be covered. What is covered becomes “real” and is discussed. What is not covered becomes “false” and is not discussed. You’ll note that once they got their initial two-week tantrum out of the way, the press stopped talking about Sarah Palin. She is not “real.” She is “false.” They do not talk about anything that can negatively affect Barack Obama.

Gov. Palin has a seriously negative affect on the Obama campaign; therefore she is no longer discussed, unless she can be mocked or seriously disrespected or made out to be a fraud. They might – might – also make notice Palin if her email account is hacked. Or if another sort of hack suggests that she be gangraped. Despicable, but there it is. This is why good people don’t go into politics.

Ed Morrissey
has more thoughts.

I’m still under the weather, but had to post that.
