I love it when the obscure-ish things I love break out!
This is very cool. Amazon has an “exclusive” release of Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, the brilliant-if-too-short (43 minutes) musical – silly, irreverent, surprisingly infectious – that completely bowled over our whole family. We were already fans of Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion, but if we hadn’t been, this would have done the trick. Great fun.
They’re putting out the soundtrack, too. I just found my stocking stuffers!
And, remember these guys from the Indiana University?
They’ve released a Christmas Album that sounds pretty impressive – but I’m a sucker for accapella men. And it’s cheaper on the download!
And look what I found while I was listening to Straight No Chaser – a digitally remastered Ella Fitzgerald Christmas Album! My beloved Miss Ella! Go listen to the snippet of her singing O Holy Night – one of the most difficult carols to sing, I can’t think of a modern singer who does not get overwrought in trying – and she just puts it out there elegantly, comfortably, as only Miss Ella could!
The Roches may have the best and most originally rendered version – ever – of We Three Kings of Orient (and if you don’t own that you’re just silly) but everything else? Ella can sing it all!
