Did coffee, and coffee houses, fuel the enlightenment?
As Brian Saint-Paul says, it’s not as crazy as it sounds. I can say that when we were in Vienna, the coffee houses were irresistible for the break they afforded, and the caffeine rush. But the friendly, open atmosphere for talking was glorious, too.
