A request for prayer

A request for prayer 2017-03-17T21:32:22+00:00

There is a gent who is going through the formation program for permanent deacons in the Catholic church. He is a year away from ordination and suddenly – seemingly out of nowhere – his wife has decided she cannot support it and that moreover she wants a divorce.

He will probably be dropping out of the program to save his marriage, although his wife says it cannot be saved.

This is a very talented and pastoral man, one who would be a tremendous gift to the people of the church and a huge asset to any parish to which he would be assigned.

I don’t know his wife – perhaps she is simply fearful of what life will be like after ordination, which is not unusual. For many wives, it’s a scary proposition – they wonder if their lives will be under a microscope, if they will be expected to be “perfect” because they are The Deacon’s Wife. They worry whether they will be up to helping out and supporting their husbands while trying to raise the family, understanding that many dynamics may change.

If you could keep E’s intention in your prayers, if you could whisper up a prayer for him and his family, from time to time…well…that would be great.
