O Radix Jesse!

O Radix Jesse! 2017-03-16T15:15:53+00:00

O Radix Jesse, qui stas in signum populorum,
super quem continebunt reges os suum,

quem Gentes deprecabuntur:
veni ad liberandum nos, jam noli tardare.

O Root of Jesse, which standest for an ensign of the people,
at whom kings shall shut their mouths;
to whom the Gentiles shall seek:
Come and deliver us, and tarry not.

The Benedictine offers thoughts on the root of Jesse.

I am curious to know…are you liking these O Antiphons? Do you find them to be as beautiful as I do?

And I am wondering about your feelings on Advent in general. Do you think paying more attention to Advent on this blog has been spiritually profitable for you, and fruitful? I know it has been enormous for me, particularly restful and restorative after that absurd two-year election, but what about you folks? Have you liked it or do you wish I’d move on, already?

And I am particularly interested in hearing what my non-Catholic friends think of all this. I cannot help but “write Catholic” – that simply is the natural by-product of who and what I am, but I am always very aware that I have a lot of non-Catholic readers. Have you enjoyed all this Advent stuff – has it fed you spiritually at all? Does it make you feel -as it does me – more fully connected to the whole woven cloth of Christianity, and our ancient heritage…or are you just putting up with it because once in a while I throw out a good recipe? ;-)

I’m interested in your comments.
