Tied up with something and will get back to posting later tonight but to those writing about Hillary’s extremely ill thought-out “RFK was assassinated in June,” remarks, I’ll repeat what I wrote to Thom as the story broke. That’s all. This cannot be fixed, especially when the press will not help her with it. She’s done. Toast. Now she will not be the Democrat nominee – even if something horrible DID happen to Obama, she will not be. Now she... Read more

This article is a few years old, and I linked to it in 2006, but I wanted to post it again, this Memorial Day, because it is an Englishman’s assessment of America, not my own, and because Al Qaeda once said, “you love Pepsi; we love death.” No…what we love is FREEDOM, and we’ll die for it; we’ll die helping other people to achieve it and, leftist-mantra’s of “Imperialism” aside, we do it without asking for any more land than... Read more

…they will be beyond saving. Especially now that Nancy Pelosi – as incompetent a House Speaker as has ever held the post – has decided that Congress does not even have to send the president whole and complete bills (staggering arrogance!), if the GOP does not find the gumption to first DEMAND a revote and then do a 180 and represent the will of the people over their own fat, they deserve to lose everything, for the foreseeable future. Ed... Read more

Back in January I offered the opportunity for all of us to do a gut check on the then-candidates running in both GOP and Democrat primaries. I meant to do it several times before November, but then forgot because I often forget what I’ve written, but I stumbled upon the thing last night and thought…let’s take another gut check. It’s worth noting that Fred Dalton Thompson dropped out of the race within days of the last “gut-check,” and that seemed... Read more

Bill Clinton is saying: -“I think most of the press people are in Obama’s demographic. … There have been times when I thought I was literally lost in a fun house.” Mr. President…we know how you feel. And now YOU know how your successor has probably felt every day since he took office, after having to wait for you to finally get off camera on his inaugural day. Doug Ross had your number a few days ago. But honestly, this... Read more

I can’t embed it, but thanks to Don Surber, I’ve had to mop coffee off my keyboard. Hitler Singing the Theme from the Jeffersons. I happen to think it’s the best sitcom theme ever written, and if I remember the back story correctly, it was composed by an actress who played Florida’s neighbor on “Good Times.” (Also a pretty good theme…”keepin’ your head above water/making a wave when you can…”) I think she asked to be given a chance to... Read more

AP photo of Sen. Kennedy surrounded by (counterclockwise) Ted Kennedy, Jr., stepson Curran Raclin, Rep. Patrick Kennedy, Daughter Kara Kennedy The emails about Ted Kennedy’s illness have been interesting – I had a note from a gentleman living though his own hell of cancer and wondering why blogs and the press immediately took to focusing on the political ramifications of this news. I understood his meaning, but it is impossible to write about a Kennedy, especially in this election year,... Read more

Write a letter, save a life! The easiest task you’ll have all day! Priorities in order, the UN sends 200,000 condoms to Myanmar, which the government has accepted. Perhaps those poor people can inflate them, tie them together and float out of there on them. (Margaret Cabaniss gives helpful links to Caritas International and Catholic Relief Services.) Demilitarizing America: it’s the Smart-Obama thing to do. He’s sounding dumber and dumber to me, and I’m sorry but doesn’t he seem almost... Read more

:::This is a repost of a piece from December of 2005, which I came across while researching this post. I reprint it here to give a little perspective on just how determinedly the press has been talking down the economy, and for how long. It’s really staggering to consider.::: THERE GO 800,000 JOBS? NOT REALLY! Joseph at Straight Shot of Politics has decided that he is a consumer of news and information, while I and others like me are not... Read more

My L’il Bro Thom sent me the word on Ted Kennedy’s brain tumor which appears to be malignant. Obviously this is news that brings up a great many feelings for those of us who lived through the whole Kennedy mythology of Camelot through the 1960’s. My first thought was “I feel badly for Caroline; when Ted goes it is the last real connection to her mother and father. I don’t get the sense that she is close to her cousins.”... Read more
