It hasn’t been a quiet week in Lake Wobegone …

Wanted to update you all on the week that was …

Vasco had the cardiac catheter procedure last Tuesday and, as you know, it went very well.

But Thursday morning he woke up with a fever and nausea and some pretty impressive projectile vomiting. We took him to the hospital where, after taking some blood and other things, his doctors discovered that V has malaria.

We spent a night in the hospital and V felt better in no time. Came home Friday afternoon and spent Friday night chilling and watching movies and kicking Uncle Maury’s butt at Go Fish. Vasco’s appetite and zest for life are as big as ever. He’s feeling much much better, thank you.

Doctors have pushed back his open-heart surgery at least a week, while his body recovers from the fever and adjusts to all the new meds for malaria, parasites and TB. We’ll let you know as soon as the surgery date is set.

Meanwhile, it’s a lazy Saturday. We spent part of the morning watching the fabulous DVD from Playing for Change – featuring Keb Mo, musicians from around the world (and all over Africa) and one Irish guy V calls “Uncle Bono.” And then we watched the DVD of Paul Simon’s “Graceland.” The wee man pulled out his guitar and strummed along – off key, but with great rhythm. We have GOT to get this young man some guitar lessons. He’s such a natural. Gonna be a famous musician. I’m convinced. A musician-statesman, would be my guess, just like Uncle B.)

Thanks as always for your continued prayer and love.

Have a blessed weekend.

XO
C and M and V
