Art of Living: Cardinal Virtues & the Resurrection

Florissant, MO, April 7, 2026— As the Church enters the joyful season of Easter, the Augustine Institute invites the faithful to let their celebration bear fruit in transformation. In The Art of Living, a new six-part video series, renowned Catholic scholar and bestselling author Dr. Edward Sri offers a practical and engaging guide to the four cardinal virtues—prudence, fortitude, temperance, and justice—and their essential role in shaping authentic freedom and lasting holiness.

Drawing from his widely read book of the same name, Sri combines humor, real-life stories, and wisdom from the Church’s saints and theological tradition to show how virtue is not merely an ideal, but a lived path to deeper friendship, stronger community, and a more authentic love. All episodes are now available on Formed, the Augustine Institute’s faith-formation streaming platform.

“Eastertide is a celebration of Christ’s victory over sin, but that victory involves an invitation to new life, and that new life is a call to genuine transformation,” said Dr. Scott Hefelfinger, Head of Content at the Augustine Institute. “The Art of Living reveals how the cardinal virtues can transform every area of our lives. It is an invitation to become men and women capable of true excellence, generous love, and heartfelt joy.”

Broken into six episodes, each 40 minutes or less, The Art of Living guides viewers through practical ways to cultivate the cardinal virtues while recognizing and resisting the vices that oppose them. Designed for small-group study, the series pairs with leader and participant guidebooks, which provide easy-to-use templates, including prayer, summaries, discussion prompts, and space for reflection. In the final episode, Dr. Sri answers audience questions, providing concrete guidance on applying the virtues in daily life and demonstrating their real-world impact.

“Through compelling storytelling and deeply practical insight, Dr. Sri delivers a masterclass on the cardinal virtues,” said Dr. Hefelfinger. “He shows that virtue isn’t about perfection or moral superiority—it’s about freedom, friendship, and learning to love. Prudence, fortitude, temperance, and justice have the power to shape and sanctify our friendships, marriages, families, communities, and beyond.”

All episodes of The Art of Living can be streamed on Formed with supplemental materials available for purchase at Catholic Market.
