Love Month Is Here

Welcome to February Patheos Friends! Prepared or not, we just finished the first month of 2026. Time is flying by so fast. By now, everyone is back to their routine and focusing on those goals. And many states here in the USA have experienced one of the coldest times in a long time. Here in Texas, we are gradually thawing out after a week of icy weather, that closed schools and some in-person worship times.

February Observations

This month comes with many observations, tributes and celebrations. Some notable ones are Black History tributes, Valentine’s Day and the Superbowl. Talking about Superbowl, for the first time there is an alternative halftime show organized by Turning Point USA. It is so inspiring to see the hunger for God’s kingdom in the lives of many believers in Christ. A happy birthday blessing to everyone celebrating this month.

Our Need This Hour

In the last few weeks, the church collective experienced another disturbing shock. For many Christians, this trend is getting too much and painful. But it is not enough that as Christians we feel painful about the unChristlike conduct of leaders among us. We need change. We need repentance .We need transformation. Yes- that word many Christians dislike (repentance). From inaccurate theology to lack of the reverence of God, standing for Biblical truth is now unpopular, uncomfortable and has become dangerous.

Crucible of Repentance

Repentance is a gift from God. A gift that tenderizes our hearts to the workings of the Holy Spirit, so we can respond appropriately and accordingly. For any believers in Christ, the slippery slope begins with inaccurate theology, such as repentance is just for new believers coming to Christ for the first time. This type of thinking is dangerous! Repentance is a lifestyle that all believers are called to walk in. Whether that believer in Christ is an apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher or evangelist, makes no difference- every believer in Christ is called to walk in repentance.

One Root Cause

Repentance cannot be separated from the reverence or fear of God. Both go hand in hand. In a time that the reverence or fear of God is no longer a priority or pursuit among followers of Christ, we urgently need a revival of the reverence of God. The fear or reverence of God is an inner sense of honor for God; an inner knowing of the weightiness of God, and an awareness of the Presence and Person of God. Here is the call to action to repent: to change life, to change heart, to change ways, to change truth and to change vision. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
