No One Cares What You Think

No One Cares What You Think 2017-06-01T16:15:59-08:00

Have you noticed how much we fight online? Yes, I am referring to the Pagan community here, but I’m also referring to humans in general. I often wonder how many people would actually still say the things they post online, if they had to say those words to someone’s face. The internet is filled with armchair practitioners, hate fueled speech, and a whole boatload of ‘I-am-right-therefore-you-are-wrong’ arguments. And I am here to tell you that at the end of the day, no one cares what you think.

Go ahead, pick online fights. Go ahead, draw lines in the sand. Go ahead and believe that your way is the only (correct) way. Go ahead. It’s cool.

Leopards and Spots

Leopards don’t change their spots and a bunch of words on the internet aren’t going to turn your “online enemy” into a cindering block of char, or give them boils, or cause their hair to fall out, or any other number of terrible things. Your online chatter might get you some attention, but at what cost? Do you want to be known as a shit stirrer? Do you want to be known as someone always picking fights? Or is your desire to be known so strong that you don’t care what you’re known as, just as long as you’re known.

Leopards don’t change their spots and no matter how much you think that your way is the only way, no matter how many facts and figures you put out there to prove your point, no matter how many Gods have blessed you with the sight; your argument isn’t going to turn anyone else’s mind around. In fact, more often than not, it will entrench them deeper into their opinion.

No one cares what you think. It really doesn’t matter. It means absolutely nothing.

And What?

So the logical next question is, ok then, what does matter? And the answer to this is easy. (Or as the Druids say “not hard”.) What it is that you do? That’s what matters. Forget the farcical internet persona of you that might exist in the ethers. What is it that you are doing in the world. Who are you helping? What real people are you connecting to? How are you working to make this world a better place?

I am too busy out in the world, helping real people. I am too busy out in the world, sharing what I’ve learned to try and help others avoid the same mistakes. I am too busy encouraging women to be successful, and helping my clients through difficult times, and teaching my daughter how to be a strong woman, and taking care of my spiritual community. I am too busy to waste time with online witch wars, bullshit battles, or other shenanigans.

And I encourage you to do the same.
