Time to Protest: Beautiful Rape Babies and other Fantasies of Our Male Elected Officials

Time to Protest: Beautiful Rape Babies and other Fantasies of Our Male Elected Officials February 9, 2016

West Virginia Republican Representative Kurkuba is quoted as saying: “while rape is awful, a child that results from a rape is beautiful.”

His apology, as I understand it, was to “anyone who took my comments about the sanctity of human life to mean anything other than that all children are precious regardless of circumstances.”

Here is the email I have sent to Rep. Kurkuba.

Rep. Kurkuba, here is what a woman hears when words that equate “rape” with “beauty” come from your mouth,

I do not care that you will suffer trauma for the rest of your life.

I do not care that some man violently holds open your legs and thrusts his penis inside you.

I do not care if suffer harm in your pregnancy or die in childbirth later.

I only care that your rapist is fertile, is not using a condom, and he injects you full of his sperm. And that you, you stupid whoring woman, are not using birth control of your own.

The only thing that matters is that your body serve as a vessel to produce another life, a life which we can only hope will be yet another man who will yet rape another woman and produce yet another “beautiful” baby of violence.

You, as a woman, have no purpose in life other than producing babies. So shut up and open your legs.

No, Rep. Kurkuba, to you not all children are precious. Only male children. Because to you, a woman is not fully human. She has one job: satisfy male fantasies of power and lust and make sure your sperm get to impregnate her.

Rep. Kurkuba, it is time for this to stop.

It is time for you and all other male lawmakers who think they own the vaginas and wombs of all the women in their jurisdictions to acknowledge the horrors that you are perpetuating.

It is time for you to stop implying that in some way rape is OK as long as the woman becomes pregnant.

It is time for justice to prevail.

Do you wish to join me in this protest?
