I’m just gonna be honest here, I did not plan on going to Mass on Friday. It was a Holy Day of Obligation and every single time I saw someone post “Make sure and go to Mass today!” on Facebook, I flipped my iPhone off. In order to have a good “excuse” to not have gone to Mass, I decided that we would take the kids to their grandma’s that morning. It was kind of last-minute decision that I thought... Read more

Last night me, my husband, and my 3 youngest children took a break from the crazy that has become our lives and went to the movies. We have had a rough few months since Warren died. My husband has tried to manage his business while grieving for a friend and employee along with all the other things that have come at him. I would be worried about the kind of person he is if he didn’t have a hard time... Read more

I used to work at this bar called Club Baloo in Amarillo as a bartender. The club was owned by a man and his wife and they had 3 daughters. I loved all three girls from the beginning, but the oldest and I hit it off from the minute I told her that 15 year olds shouldn’t smoke and she told me it was none of my business. We grew closer and closer as the months and years went on... Read more

This past weekend I attended The Edel Gathering. There were so many reasons why I should not have gone. For one thing, I am one broke mesican. Since we lost Warren last year there has been one thing after another going on with our company and it all has piled up and exploded all at once. Long story short, our accountant was not doing her job and so we weren’t paying taxes for months. Not federal taxes or sales taxes.... Read more

As I have written for a while now, things in my life have been a little rough for the last 2 years or so. There have been moments of pure Grace that have flooded over me like a nice hot bath, but for the most part, it’s been a long uphill walk for me. (And my husband, but this is my blog and I don’t write a lot about his thoughts, because they are his thoughts. These are my thoughts) ... Read more

I grew up raised by a single mother who tried her best to give me everything that I needed in life and to teach me how to be a good person. She wasn’t the perfect mom and even now she drives me crazy and I drive her even crazier, but she is my mom and the only parent that I have ever had in my life. I do not know who my father is, what he looks like or anything... Read more

  1. It’s summer. I love my kids, I really really do and maybe I’m just a horrible public school parent or just a horrible parent period but they are driving me BONKERS! The thing about my kids is that they are people people. They like to talk to people, discuss things and get different perspective on life from others so going to public school is great for them to do that. When they don’t have it, they watch TV... Read more

I was reading Elizabeth Scalia’s post yesterday about Papa Benedict and his new role in the Church. When I got to the excerpt of an interview the B16 did where he talks about suffering, I just sat there staring at the screen.  It’s from an interview that is in God and the World, which I plan to buy and read in its entirety. Pain is part of being human. Anyone who really wanted to get rid of suffering would have to... Read more

I have been reading  Redeemed by Heather King for a month or so now. Normally I can read books pretty fast but this book took longer to read because so much of it hit me and so much of it validated myself to me. I never understood that I loved to write. I knew that it was something that I loved to do, but to think of myself as someone who could actually ever even dream of writing for my... Read more

1. I’m not really sure where to start this post, so I will just wing it and hope it all comes together. First let me just say that I am not “educated”  I finished the 10th grade (barely), took a few semesters of community college (that I barely passed) and I come from the country and ghetto, so there are times when I have to just write and not worry about being “proper”, otherwise I would just not write. I... Read more
