Fruit trees are planted so that they can … well, bear fruit.

The same applies to you and me. We, too, are created to bear fruit. Essentially, this means that our lives reflect the teachings and character of Jesus. In other words, demonstrating love, faith, and good works to our family, community, and beyond.

When we accept Jesus into our lives and follow Him wholeheartedly,  we have a visible sign of an internal transformation and outward actions that align with God’s will-Our fruit is delightful to God.

The Parable of Three Men

The master of the house left for business. He gave three servants money to invest while he was away. The first one turned his $5000 into $10,000. The second turned his $2000 into $4000. But the third servant was afraid, so he buried his $1000 so that he would not lose it.

When the master returned, he called the servants to account for his money. He was delighted with the two who doubled their investments, but to the one who did nothing, he reprimanded,  “Wicked man! Lazy slave! Since you knew I would demand your profit,  you should at least have put my money into the bank so I could have some interest. Take the money from this man and give it to the man with the $10,000” (Matthew 25:26-28TLB).

What Does This Mean?

We have been given gifts and talents by God. While He is away, He expects us to invest them for His glory. He wants us to be fruitful.

Be careful, though, how you spend your gifts and talents, because “ For the man who uses well what he is given shall be given more, and he shall have abundance. But from the man who is unfaithful, even what little responsibility he has shall be taken from him.  And throw the useless servant out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 25:29-30 TLB).

The Parable in Real Life

I have found this to be true in my life. Whenever my actions reflect Jesus’ character, any form of production I have is increased tenfold.

In 2014, I accepted the role of guest speaker at a Princess Banquet. I didn’t just want to go and speak; I wanted to leave these young women empowered and inspired to serve a God who gave everything for them.

Three things I desired to leave with these girls were 1. That they read God’s word every day. The only way to know Him is to read His word. 2. That they worship. Even in the darkest times, worship can uplift our spirits. 3. I wanted these princesses to surround themselves with other believers and share their stories. What we are all called to do!

Three Gifts for 50 women-No Money

I love Sarah Young’s devotional, Jesus Calling. It speaks to me right where I am. No matter how many times I read it, it’s always new and fresh just like God’s word. It was perfect for these young women. Worship was easy. There are so many great artists out there! But the one I wanted to share was Mandisa. Her worship CD, What if We Were Real, brought me through some trying times in my life. And as an author, I wanted to give a copy of me finding my biological father – sharing my story.

I was told there would be between 30-50 girls in attendance, so I had my work cut out for me. Not having the funds to purchase these gifts for each of the girls, I prayed to God. I shared my heart, and I went to my church family!

We raised enough funds to purchase gifts for all 50 young women who showed that night, plus some for each of the adults attending as well.

Don’t be like the fig tree that didn’t bear fruit. One word from Jesus, and it withered and died.

When God calls you, He equips you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Use your gifts and talents to glorify Him and watch as he makes things happen. He clears paths, kicks down walls, and shuts the enemy’s mouth so you can be successful. He even asks a congregation of believers to donate to a young guest speaker’s first event.

God is so faithful.
