Welcome to Uniquely Constructed where faith, family, career, and purpose intertwine to show God’s faithfulness in my life! My name is Teresa, and I am thrilled to embark on this opportunity to write a column. Literal decades have passed with a single dream simmering on the backburner of my mind, biding its time, and waiting on God’s timing to be revealed. Raising a family, homeschooling children, and owning and operating a construction business alongside my husband throughout the years, left little time for more. God confirmed with me during those years that my mission field starts at home, and extends outward from there. My children are grown now, and I am witnessing God’s provision for opportunities to finally take steps toward my long held dream of becoming an author. The dream now encompasses more than I first imagined, enabling me to “Go Tell The World About Jesus!”
God is doing exceedingly, abundantly more than I could even think to ask for! ~ Just as the Bible says He does in Ephesians 3:20; one of my favorite verses!
With the ability to write, also comes great responsibility! Knowing that my words have the potential of reaching people for Jesus, is both exciting and humbling. The potential reach of this platform is astounding, and I fully intend to embrace this opportunity with all I’ve got. With that said, I assure you that as I step out in faith on this journey, I will be seeking God’s guidance! And asking God to order my steps in His Word!
There are a few foundational things that I need to share:
- First, I certainly want to give God praise for the opportunity to write a column that has the capability of reaching people around the world.
- Second, I emphatically intend to adhere to the words of Jesus’ command to “Go and Tell the World about me!”
- Third, I want you to know that my faith and my family are both tremendously important to me!
- Fourth, I promise to seek God’s wisdom and discernment, and apply it, as I write and share faith-based stories from my life, or the lives of others, with their permission.
- Fifth, I will continually ask God to impart new Biblical knowledge, allow me to apply it to my own life, and give me creative ways to share things with readers like you.
I ask for your prayers and encouragement, and I thank you for checking out my column!
The Story Behind Uniquely Constructed ~
You may be wondering… “Where did that name come from, and why?”
With this in mind, I want to try to walk you through the purpose and reasoning behind Uniquely Constructed’s creation.
In reality, it all began as a step toward pursuing that dream I mentioned earlier. Years of reading, journaling, and just loving to write, gave way to a desire to become an accomplished author/writer. I must confess that in my mind I always thought of publishing a book, and I still hope to do that. God has undeniably expanded that vision for me now, and writing this column is irrefutable proof of that fact.
I have recently begun to realize that wanting to be a successful author is not just a dream in my heart. Instead, it is also part of the calling God has for my life.
Taking any step of faith toward the dream, meant sharing my intimate inner goals of becoming an author with others, even strangers. Honestly, I was not too sure of myself, and more than a little anxious about putting that information out for the world to see.
Honestly, I was plagued with thoughts like “But what if I fail?” ~ “What will people say?” ~
I mean, telling a few people about my dreams of writing was one thing, telling the world was another! Confidence was not in my wheelhouse of emotions at all, and only a handful of close relations were privy to my private hopes and dreams.
Social media platforms seemed to be the logical place to begin; albeit more than a little overwhelming to consider at the same time. In order to branch into that arena, I decided I wanted a “writing name” to use. My oldest daughter and I brainstormed together to come up with a fitting name.
One word and a specific Bible verse continuously bombarded my thoughts! That word was UNIQUE, and I am attaching a photo of the Bible verse that I had a special person create for me:
Thoughts of being uniquely created by God Himself stayed in my mind continuously. Eventually, I deemed that the uniqueness of each person would undoubtedly play an important part in the message God wanted me to share, and in the name we were looking for. Additionally, I truly wanted it to represent the importance of my faith, combined with my business background in construction, my love of family, and the absolute fact that I recognize and accept the uniqueness of my own calling.
Days of collaboration, produced the name Uniquely Constructed, and it really does fit!
All of the attributes of Uniquely Constructed are contributing factors in making me the woman I am today!
I’m thankful for family and friends who are supportive and encouraging about this new opportunity I have been given! I love you all, and appreciate you more than you know!
Keep your eyes peeled for my next article, because there is much more to my story… I plan to share about my family, careers in construction and real estate and my faith. I like to say that I wear many different hats, because it’s true! As a result, a series of several posts is necessary in order to truly introduce myself to you. God has blessed my life greatly, and I will praise Him for all His goodness to me!
What’s more, we can then begin this journey of seeing exactly what God has in store for this column on Patheos. I can’t wait, and I hope you feel the same! I’m counting on you to keep following along!
