If you are an Etsy seller like me you may have opened your email this week to find out you have been “clarified,” as they are calling it. If you sell psychic readings, goods, or services you may have been affected. My etsy store is called DeStressed Dreams and sells my strange handcrafted shirts, my cookbook, and my psychc readings.

My official notification reads as follows –

“We recently clarified our policies on spell-related items and removed the categories of Religious Services and Readings and Spells, Rituals and Readings. But we have not banned all metaphysical items, nor are we considering doing so. You may continue to sell astrological charts, tarot readings and other tangible objects, as long as you are not claiming that the objects will affect a physical change or other outcome, such as weight loss, love or revenge.”

Now while I may understand why, as a company, they wish to make this decision, it calls up many questions and concerns for me as a professional psychic. Firstly, I think we must go back to an argument I made very recently in my post Why Magick is Medicine? Now if we go to a doctor expecting for help and don’t improve …. and correct me if I’m wrong, the doctor still gets paid, as do the drug companies, and all the other support people along the way. What are the larger and wider assumptions being made here? That magick is ineffective and medicine is not. Yes, there are governing and ruling bodies for medicine … maybe we should have them for magick as well. The time for this is certainly long overdue. This isn’t an easy solution however, who gets to choose ? The community already contains a certain amount of frauds and predators, and due to people’s ignorance and/or love of showmanship numbers of followers is no indication of magickal competence or success on any real level.

For decades I offered a money back guarantee to everyone purchasing spellwork or a reading, I have gotten so many crappy psychic readings myself I thought it only fair to return people’s money if I wasn’t able to help. For those wondering I would probably give anyone back their money still today if they were unhappy, I just found unfortunately while no one ever asked for their money back … some did try to take advantage in other ways. However as a practitioner I would have liked to see Etsy offer this type of guarantee and still offer spellwork for sale. But maybe that is unrealistic. People are unhappy with lousy psychics, that has to change, but is Etsy really doing themselves or anyone a favor by changing their policy? According to my letter they seem to be afraid of “revenge“… do we really need to make a prediction about this one?

I would love to hear what other psychics think, readers, spellworkers, and customers alike? Please post your thoughts, suggestions, and opinions in the comments below and remember to share !!! For those wishing to contact me privately about a reading or otherwise, email me at voodoouniverse@yahoo.com

Many blessings !
