This time around we review Queen Up ! Reclaim Your Crown When Life Knocks You Down by Angela Kaufman. Published by Red Wheel/Weiser books, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Queen Up ! The title had me dreaming of Westeros, Video games, and rap divas. For better or worse the message of this book has nothing to do with any of that. In reality this is more of a workbook, with weekly lessons and exercises to complete. The exercises call for radical self assessment, which I have always been an advocate of. Kaufman asks you to look at your life, your home, your practices, and find out if they are serving you in the best possible way.
Four Queens
Queen Up! is at it’s core a philosophy of aligning and investigating life and spirituality through the four queens of the Tarot. Kaufman gives a detailed description of the Queen of Wands, the Queen of Cups, the Queen of Swords, and the Queen of Pentacles or Coins. You are then shown how to develop these energies in yourself.
What if you call your Queen and she doesn’t answer? One of the nice things about this book is that it manages to ask some of the hard questions. It may be because of Kaufman’s background in Social Work, but she manages to examine all possibilities. She then gives suggestions and techniques to maximize your experience.
The book Queen Up ! Begins with an investigation of energy, and how it is behind everything. The author talks about how to harmonize and capitalize on the energy forces in the universe and use them to your advantage. If you are interested in Tarot, I suggest you take a look at this book. It provides an interesting way of understanding the system and how to Queen Up !
