How Does Ḥōl Connect Trump’s Rally & Islam?

How Does Ḥōl Connect Trump’s Rally & Islam? 2025-12-11T22:55:24-05:00

This week, there’s been a lot of big and negative news about President Trump held his latest rally that he held in Pennsylvania. The president originally intended to host rallies to challenge what the president calls the Democrats’ “Affordability” hoax.

Initially, the president denied America’s economic crisis and inflation. The president also announced his $12 million bailout for US farmers who were suffering due to his tariff failure, which has caused China to stop buying American soybeans and other produce.

After not getting any response from the crowd, the president then quickly returned to his core anti-immigrant message by spewing a profanity-laced tirade against Haitian and Somali immigrants, even Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullahi Omar, who is in naturalized US citizen and came here legally with her family in 1995.

The president continued telling lies about the Congresswoman and her family. Pres. Trump continues to practice the unholy ways of this fallen kingdom:

  • Deception
  • Greed
  • Unkindness
  • Hatred

The President and his followers continue to focus on a temporary kingdom that is cursed and is not of God (Genesis 3:17, Isaiah 24:5-6). This earthly kingdom is temporary and not our permanent home (Hebrews 13:14).

I find it ironic that many of President Trump’s supporters defend his policies, yet criticize the way he talks and uses bad words. They have forgotten what Jesus taught about the words that come out of our mouths, revealing our evil hearts (Matthew 15:11, 18-19).

Our Lord cautioned us that a good tree cannot bear bad fruit (Matthew 7:18). The truth is, God’s people are set apart from this unholy world and its evil ways (Leviticus 20:26).

What Is Unholy

I don’t believe there’s any question that we live in a fallen and unholy world. The problem is when God’s people pick and choose what they call unholy instead of listening to God. Many forget that we are all sinful and unholy people by nature.

Unholy is defined as “Showing disregard for what is holy: wicked.” The natural bent of every human is evil because of our sin nature, and our sin sets us apart from God as unholy beings (Isaiah 59:2, Romans 3: 23).

As God’s people, we are called to do what is good and holy by God’s definition, not our sinful perspective (Micah 6:8, James 4:17). That is why the Bible has a lot to say about what is unholy (Titus 1:15, Hebrews 10:26, 1 Peter 2:4-9).

Apart from Christ, we are all dead in our sin and unholy ways (Ephesians 2:5-8, Colossians 2:13). We are not allowed to continue in our unholy natural ways like this fallen kingdom (Romans 6:1-2; 7:1-25, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 John 3:6; 5:18). The apostles remembered their Jewish education about what is unholy, or unclean.

Ḥōl

The prophet Moses tells us that in the beginning God made everything, and it was good and perfect, just as our holy God made it (Genesis 1:1-31). It was man’s thirst for more that persuaded him to listen to Satan and let sin into the world (Genesis 3:4-6).

Our sin entered this world and corrupted it, and this world became unholy (Genesis 6:4-7, Isaiah 24:5-6). Because of our sin, this world and mankind became disconnected from God and His holy ways; the natural world is an unholy place (Psalm 97:10, Isaiah 1:16).

The Hebrew word in the Old Testament for unholy is ḥōl, and it can also mean “Profane, common, or sand,” depending upon the context it is used in. This is why God set His people apart from this unholy world, to be a holy people devoted to His ways and will (Exodus 19:5-6, Leviticus 20:26, Deuteronomy 7:6).

This is why Judaism emphasizes God’s people to avoid what is unholy and unclean and purify themselves (Leviticus 5:2-3; 10:3; 11 44-45, Numbers 16:26):

  1. Mikeh immersion
  2. Tzara’at
  3. Teshuvah
  4. Yom Kippur
  5. Hitbodeut
  6. Mitzvot

Jesus also emphasized being holy and pure during His earthly ministry (Matthew 5:8; 15:19-20). Jesus spent time healing the unclean and outcasts of His time (Matthew 8:1-4, Mark 1:40-45, Luke 5:12-16).

Our Rabbi emphasized spiritual cleansing, just like His father David (Psalm 51:1-10). Jesus taught His followers that God prunes them to make them holy and clean so they can bear more fruit (John 15:2).

Jesus is our example to be set apart from this unholy world and its ways (Hebrews 12:2, 1 Peter 2:21; 4:12-19, 1 John 3:15). There are other religions that also emphasize the need to avoid what is unholy.

Islam

This week, there have been a lot of negative things said about the Islamic community. Islam is the second-largest faith in the world after Christianity. The people of God, both Jews and Christians, are called to be kind and respectful, yet it is the Christian community that has attacked and said hateful things about the Islamic faith this week.

Last time I checked in America, we had the freedom of religion that we choose; it is both un-American and un-Christian to force our faith on anyone, regardless of what faith it is. Many who claim to be God’s people have become prideful and are doing the works of Satan instead of following the teachings of Jesus.

Many in the 21st-century church are making the same mistakes of the second century, the Holy Crusades:

  • Judging
  • Violent
  • Prideful

The irony in the situation is that Islamic extremists are being attacked by people who claim to belong to a holy God and condemn Muslims for doing the same evil, unholy things they themselves are doing.

God’s people cannot practice the same religious Jihad against Muslims who believe they are fighting a war against what is unholy themselves. Unfortunately, God’s people have forgotten to be the light, because they have exchanged what is holy for their prideful desires that are ḥōl!
