What Does Yᵊšûʿâ Mean For The Iran War & Trump Accounts?

So far this week, the big news has continued to be about the Iran war. Once again, Pres. Trump has promised that the end is near as his delegates hammer out the final details of the war and reopen the Strait while he threatens Oman and other nations.

Yet, both Iran and the United States have admitted to firing upon each other despite there being a cease-fire in the area. The war that “isn’t a war” has done just as much harm stateside as it has done throughout the Middle East.

The president himself admitted that he isn’t concerned about the midterms or the economy here:

  • Inflation
  • Gas prices
  • Rising mortgages
  • Jobs lost

Surely by now, his MAGA supporters have realized that President Trump doesn’t really care about America or their needs. This is why the Bible warns God’s people not to put their hope into men or temporary things of this world (Psalm 146:3, Matthew 6:19-21).

God’s people cannot follow or trust the idols of this world: money, greatness, might, or security (Jeremiah 10:1-5). That is why God is our only hope and Savior (Isaiah 43:11, Titus 2:13).

What Is a Savior

It is clear that this temporary kingdom is fading. We need to be saved from everything ranging from natural disasters, diseases, and wars (Mark 13:7-8). A Savior is defined as “One that saves from danger or destruction: salvation.”

We are finite beings with limitations and need a divine Savior who can save us from ourselves and this fallen kingdom. Our sinful nature has corrupted our hearts and flesh, which will one day cause us all to die (Genesis 3:19, Romans 5:12).

That is why the Bible has a lot to say about God being our only Savior (Isaiah 41:10, John 3:16, Acts 2:21). God’s people cannot put their hope or trust in anyone other than God as their Savior (Psalm 118:8-9, Matthew 12:21).

When we do, we make them idols, and that is forbidden by God (Exodus 20:3, John 5:21). The world puts its hope into temporary lifeless things that bring comfort, but cannot save (Habakkuk 2:18-19, 1 Corinthians 8:4-6).

That is why God’s people can only put their hope in the name of their Savior (Acts 4:12, Romans 15:13, Ephesians 1:18, Philippians 2:9-11, 1 Timothy 1:1, 1 Peter 1:3). The apostles were their Jewish education about who our only Savior is.

Yᵊšûʿâ

The Torah tells us that in the beginning God created mankind and provided everything we needed to live (Genesis 1:26-30; 2:7-9). Everything was good until mankind wanted more and chaste earthly greatness (Genesis 3:5).

Man’s disobedience opened the door for sin to enter God’s creation Genesis 2:16-17). Even after God cleansed the earth of sin, mankind still needed a savior (Genesis 6:1-22). The only remedy for our sin is a divine Savior.

The Hebrew word in the Old Testament for Savior is yᵊšûʿâ, and it can also mean “Save, help, deliver, welfare, or health,” depending upon the context it is used in. God’s people are to depend on Him to deliver and save them from evil, harm, and death (Exodus 14:13-14, 2 Samuel 22:2-3, Psalm 34:17, Isaiah 41:10)

That is why Judaism often refers to God as our Savior, and our Jewish forefathers gave God names based on His attributes and actions:

  1. The Lord
  2. Mighty to save
  3. Merciful
  4. Abundant in love
  5. Long-Suffering
  6. Faithful
  7. Truthful

The New Testament begins with the angel telling Mary to name her child Jesus, which is a form of the Hebrew word yᵊšûʿâ (Matthew 1:21). God’s plan all along was to come to the earth to save His creation from our sins and death (John 3:16, Ephesians 1:4-5)

The New Testament writers made it clear that no other name can save, except for Jesus (John 14:6, Romans 10:9-13). They also refer to Jesus as the Lamb slain to save the world (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:18-19).

Jesus in the New Testament writers warned us about false saviors and teachers in the last days who only look good, but cannot save (Matthew 24:24, Mark 13:22, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, Jude 1:4, 2 Peter 2:1).

Trump Accounts

All throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, Pres. Trump declared that he was the only one who could save America, any the Bible-reading Christians will see that as blasphemy.

Yet, his supporters still chose him because he promised them earthly greatness and wealth, just like Satan did in both the Old Testament and New Testament.

Many have forgotten Jesus’ basic teachings about true greatness and power (Matthew 20:25-28; 23 11-12). As I write this, the White House has opened the President Trump accounts as a way of saving and investing for our children’s futures on earth, not heaven.

Worse yet, the funds, which are a government handout, will further put America in debt, which the president campaigned against.

God’s people have clearly forgotten God’s command not to put their hope in idols (Leviticus 19:4):

  • Money
  • Man
  • Graven images

If this blasphemy weren’t enough, Pres. Trump is pressuring Congress to release a limited $250 bill with his image on it to mark the nation’s 250th birthday.

Yet, MAGA wants to believe that America is a Christian nation, while they expect their idols to deliver them: money, politics, and military might. Our Lord made it clear that His followers cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24).

Money in the things of this world will make us comfortable, but they cannot save us. If we are God’s people, we can only follow the voice of yᵊšûʿâ (John 10:3-5).
