- Finding Dory: Pixar is the New England Patriots of moviemaking: A subpar season is still pretty great. Sure, Finding Dory isn’t the second coming of Up or Inside Out or Finding Nemo (despite its sequel status to the latter). But the animation here is lovely, the story resonant and Dory—voiced again by Ellen DeGeneres—is both delightfully funny and deeply poignant. Finding Dory makes its titular protagonist a scaly, forgetful sage—a bit reminiscent of Peter Sellers’ classic Being There. She places her childlike faith in providence and the people—er, aquamarine animals—closest to her, and she finds her way back to her long-lost, loving parents step by illogical, beautiful step.
