Everything Changes: A Blog Reborn

Everything Changes: A Blog Reborn February 28, 2025

When I first began blogging, it was nearly 15 years ago!

Back then, the blog was called The Water Witch in the West. I loved the early days. I blogged about my practice, what I was learning, and how I was exploring my path. I also showcased items I made, such as ointments, sea witch spell kits, and art, on my blog.

A few years later, I was attending Many Gods West. My dear friend SpiritsCrafts introduced me to the editor of the Pagan Patheos channel. I am so grateful for this introduction. It was a pivotal moment in my path and marked a moment when everything was about to change.

I had been on the conference lecture circuit for a few years at that time. That year at Many Gods West I taught a two-hour lecture on Melusine! I still lecture about her, so maybe not everything changes…

My focus at that time was more academic and educational content. This was because I was at university then, getting my Anthropology degree. It served me well, though, and helped me get my first book published! I spent hours and hours researching back then.

However, the more I researched, the closer I got to my practices. I was like a pagan with the zoomies. I didn’t just read about practices. When I read one that excited me, I would try it out again and again until it morphed into my own practice. My practice was never just reading what was on the page; it was about experiencing it.

Those experiences became potent and powerful, and they began changing my life. About 15 years ago, I went through my rite of initiation. I was initiated as both a Witch and a Priestess. I was eager to claim the word Witch, but the title of Priestess was much more lofty, and I didn’t think I could ever live up to what it entailed.

Everything changed, and the more I spent time communing with the spirits, the more they urged me to claim the mantle of the Priestess fully, and so I did.

I began claiming the title of Priestess and then became fully embodied. I began hosting public rituals, teaching others magic, healing practices and esoteric arts. Then the waters began to speak loudly and it was time for things to change again.

My first book, Water Witchcraft, and my second book, The Way of the Water Priestess, were published, and I was fully immersed in the waters.

In 2012, I visited Avalon for the first time. I couldn’t stay away! I kept coming back over and over again. Then, one day in the spring of 2022, a chance meeting changed my life again.

By November 2022, I was getting on a one-way flight bound for London. I arrived with two suitcases in hand, and this Water Priestess arrived in Avalon.

Now, the reason I am telling you all of this is because everything changes.

When I first began writing at Patheos, I was fully immersed in the life of a Water Witch. Witch was a label that really defined me at the time. The water spirits have shifted and shaped me, and while I will always be a witch, I am living the life of a fully embodied, full-time Water Priestess living in Avalon.

So today, I announce that I have changed the name of my blog to Water Priestess in Avalon. The URL will remain the same, as it can’t be changed, but I like this. It keeps my Witchy side present while highlighting my Priestess work.

I will also be blogging more often, and while some content will remain educational, I will be going back to how I blogged in the early days. I will show you what I am working on, tell you tales of my life and adventures, and share strange, silly, and sometimes wild and wacky things that happen in Glastonbury.

I also do not know what will happen in the world, which social media platforms will survive into the future, or how we will all be connected in a world that is being divided over and over. I know that this blog is a place anyone can access, and anyone can find it via Google. So, I hope to keep us connected and share about Water, Avalon, and my spiritual path.

P.S. The Water Priestess Confluence just opened for registration. You can check it out here.
