We Get to Enjoy God’s Design

At a recent trip to the zoo, my husband and I basked in God’s incredible creativity. No wonder God rested on the 7th day. That was A LOT of work! The colors of these precious beings! The personalities! We were filled with glee.

When I read about grounding in nature, I know that is a powerful tool. When life’s daily hassles get the better of me, just hanging out in nature, even for five minutes, seems to be the most effective medicine.

Just Live in Today

We walked along, enjoying a summer’s day and marveled at everybody just doing their own thing. We could all take a leaf out of animals’ books. Quit worrying about the future and just enjoy today. Be in the moment. It’s hard to do, but lowers stress a thousandfold.

I’m always stuck in the past or worrying about the future. I’m working on this, and visiting the zoo helps me. God wants to work with us in the present, which is all we can work on, anyway. He wants to give us His peace, “which the world cannot give.” He wants our trust in Him, no matter what this crazy world throws at us.

The flowers called to us with their majestic beauty. The chimpanzees entertained us with rolling down hills and wrestling with each other.  The giraffes came right up to the porch, munching on leaves. I could swear they were smiling. The birds merely tolerated us, posing patiently while we snapped pictures. A good time was had by all. What’s not to like at the zoo? As Simon and Garfunkel once sang, “It’s all happenin’ at the zoo.” Indeed.

And, of course, we had to do the obligatory photo booth

I love God’s designs in this world. I learn more everyday about the plethora of flora and fauna God gave all of us.

Even though we cannot see Him in the flesh, He shows us constantly He is there and He cares. “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”  1  Peter 5:7
