Sophia Series Session 5: Lia Scholl

Sophia Series Session 5: Lia Scholl August 23, 2010

Sophia is the Greek word for wisdom and within the story of Christianity, different traditions – such as the Eastern Orthodox Church – have adopted the feminine imagery of Sophia as an icon of wisdom. I have chosen Sophia as the name of this podcast series because of the people I’ve chosen to interview; I believe, as they share glimpses of their journeys with our Triune Creator, they are voices of wisdom that we all can learn from in this podcast series – as each of them have profoundly spoken into my life; I encourage you have a listen and let their wisdom seep into your pores.

The fifth podcast in the Sophia Series is Lia Scholl aka The “Rogue Reverend!” Rev. Lia Scholl is the Client Advocacy Program Manager at HIPS in Washington, DC, and Pastor at the Richmond Mennonite Fellowship, in Richmond, VA. The mission at HIPS is to assist male, female and transgender individuals engaging in sex work in living healthy lives. She is the founder and former executive director of Star Light Ministries, Inc., where she worked with sex workers for eight years. Originally from Alabama, she earned her M.Div. from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. She loves cooking, but doesn’t do it much, and she hates working out, and does it often.
