…Do I Deserve To Be Shot?

I am not naive enough to think that this post will make a difference nor that do I claim to understand the grief that the Trayvon Martin’s family is going through. I don’t understand what’s it like to be judged for the color of my skin or the oppression that comes with that. However, I do know what’s it like to be looked at with judging gazes for looking different; I am not trying minimize any one’s experience especially when it comes to prejudice, nor claiming to walk in their shoes. I simply have had the experience of being prejudged for my appearance. This is not the time nor post where I relay my experiences. But if you ever do want to hear more in detail about the experiences I have had, just let me know. This post is a tribute to Trayvon Martin, his family, and all who have been harmed by the prejudices of the world…do I deserve to be shot?

I believe law enforcement work for the people and not the other way around…do I deserve to be shot?

I love good whiskey…do I deserve to be shot?

I believe God is not color blind, but celebrates the diversity of His/Her creation…do I deserve to be shot?

I don’t believe God is neither a He nor a She, but posses both masculine and feminine qualities…do I deserve to be shot?

I grew up fat and will always have some on me…do I deserve to be shot?

I believe Zimmerman is guilty…do I deserve to be shot?

I believe America is the land where all humanity has been created equal, but unfortunately some do not…do I deserve to be shot?
