In June of 2011, a few weeks before the inaugural Festival was slated to occur, a friend had turned her backyard into a watery playground of blow up pools, sprinklers, and a giant, inflatable water-slide for her daughter’s fourth birthday party. I have always chased the conversation. I have a science-fiction brain. That sounds way cooler than it is. What I mean is that since I learned to read I’ve always sought out stories that took what was considered normal and flipped it or tweaked it in some way purely for the sake of talking about it that way for a moment. I didn’t emerge from all of that reading believing that aliens had stolen 40 seconds from every minute in... Read more

Not long ago we asked Wild Goose Board Member, Melvin Bray, what the festival meant to him. Below is his guest post addressing that question, which he requested be shared alongside the “Last Message” by Wild Goose staffer, Jacob Kuntz, following his post. If you’d like to share what Wild Goose means to you, please email sarah (at) wildgoosefestival (dot) org. The reason I’m excited about the Wild Goose is fairly simple. I’ve spent the better part of my life... Read more

At Wild Goose, we believe when the programming ends, the festival and its values continue. One way we hope to extend the festival in 2012 is to create opportunities to connect with Wild Goose friends throughout the year. Along these lines, prior to this year’s festival, we will be encouraging regional gatherings in cities around the U.S. These nights, which will be locally and informally organized, will include local music, food and community. The first five events will be held... Read more
