So I’ve been doing a little data mining over at the Federal Election Commission’s website. Earlier today, I presented you with the military’s favorite candidate. This time, I was curious to see which candidates folks who work for organizations that have the word Catholic in them support.
Here’s what I found listed by folks employers who have contributed. It looks like folks support the two candidates in the photograph above with their dollars.
CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF SEATTLE | 25.00 |
CATHOLIC CHARITIES | 625.00 |
CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEIGHBORHOOD SERVIC | 120.00 |
CATHOLIC CHURCH | 200.00 |
CATHOLIC HEALTH EAST | 75.00 |
CATHOLIC HEALTHCARE WEST | 1,025.00 |
CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL | 290.00 |
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES | 100.00 |
CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES | 20.00 |
CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY | 100.00 |
CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA | 400.00 |
CATHOLIC CHARITIES | 170.12 |
CATHOLIC CHURCH | 100.00 |
CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES | 201.20 |
CATHOLIC HEALTHCARE WEST | 250.00 |
CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA | 20.12 |
How about them apples? True, this is a tiny sample and subset of folks who have actually given money to candidates. And there are plenty of Catholics that support other candidates. But I think that it is telling that of the folks who work for Catholic organizations, Barack Obama and Ron Paul seem to be the top choices.
Are we having fun yet? Don’t shoot the messenger.
