Sneak Preview of an American Catholic Political Party!

Some folks are dreamers, wishing upon a star. They say things like, “If only there was a Catholic political party, things would be different.”

Just such a monster was on display at last nights debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan. Why is a Catholic Political Party an impossibility? Roll tape,

The Catholic Church must be a clear beacon of hope, and a contrarian “choice” for the world today, and for all eternity. I believe she is, otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered becoming a Catholic.

But the Church transcends politics, as she transcends, and sanctifies, all of her flock. Her role is to inform consciences, not to dictate them. To be a hospital for sinners, not a pathway to temporal power.

No, we are better off with secular political parties, on both the left and the right, that are leavened with healthy amounts of Christians, whom act in accordance with her teachings in a manner that causes the whole loaf of society to rise. The above display is none of these things.
