Risen: A New Movie With A New Version Of The Resurrection Story

So this looks…interesting.

Honestly, I’m not sure and I’m curious what you think.

I confess the historian in me thinks the premise of Risen – Pilate sending Roman soldiers to hunt down the body of Jesus after the resurrection – is more than a bit ridiculous as that almost certainly never happened because Roman authorities didn’t care enough to invest that sort of time and energy into investigating what they would have seen as ridiculous rumors about yet another failed messiah.

So, this really feels a lot like just another cliché Christian movie where the hardened unbeliever comes to Jesus at the end.

On the other hand, at least it’s a different spin on a different angle of the resurrection that though fictional, could be entertaining. And it does star Voldemort’s brother AND Draco Malfoy, so maybe there’s a chance that at the very least it’s fun to watch.
