This is another fantastic short film from the company (Deidox) that produced the video I shared last week that I thought was such a great response to the Planned Parenthood debate.
I promise they’re not bribing me to share these videos. I just love them and the more of them I watch, the more I’m compelled to share.
Anyway, this short film isn’t a direct response to the Syrian refugee crisis (the family featured in this film fled civil war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo), but it’s a great snapshot of how regular people like you and me can respond to crisis a world away by serving the refugees in our midst.
One of the things I really love about this film is Johnny’s (the mustached gentleman) outlook on love.
Love is not all that complicated. It’s actually quite simple. It sort of looks like making yourself very helpful to the people in your life. Some people need a soft word. Some people need a couch. Some people need a friend.
Sure, love can definitely get difficult sometimes, especially when people hurt us, but the simple practicality Johnny speaks of is an aspect of love we too often overlook when faced by overwhelming need that makes us feel like there’s nothing we can do to help.
So, make sure you take the time to check out this beautiful short film.
It’s only 5 minutes long and it’s well worth the procrastination from whatever else you’ve got going on today.
And, remember, if this particular expression of love isn’t something you can do right now, that’s totally ok. Here’s a great list of other ways you can help our refugee brothers and sisters fleeing the chaos of Syria and other countries in and around the Middle East.
