More Hobbit News

My Kiwi spies have confirmed that the official titles and release dates for the two part Hobbit movie are as follows: 1)  the first movie will be out December 2012 and will be subtitled  An Unexpected Journey; and 2) the second movie will bear the name of the Tolkien book itself There and Back Again and will be out in December 2013.

It has also been confirmed that Orlando Bloom will return as Legolas, and also that we are going to see the epic tale of the White Council and the battle of Dol Guldur.    Things are shaping up and looking good and the health of Peter Jackson seems to be alright.

Can’t wait. Peter Jackson had posted some behind the scenes video on his Facebook page. So excited.

I don’t remember Legolas being in the Hobbit . . . but I guess the perogotive of “prequels” is to “rewrite history”.

I think the “Hobbit” movies function as prequels for “The Lord of the Rings” movies, rather than cinematizations of the novel. So some of the events that took place between “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” will be filmed.

Tolkien fans seem to love this “alternative history”; but Jackson knows that he needs more spectacle than “The Hobbit” can provide.
He’ll also need to re-imagine the Spiders, and the incident with the Troll’s, so that the mise-en-scene of “The Hobbit” matches the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Actually, a successful “Hobbit” will be much more difficult that a successful “LOTR”
