A couple of questions.
Given the accepted homosexual behaviours of the Greeks in Paul’s day, what was the history of the attitude towards homosexuality as Christianity grew in influence to become the dominant religion of Europe Asia Minor?
How do you explain the dominance of homosexuality in public debate today? What is driving it?
>>How do you explain the dominance of homosexuality in public debate today? What is driving it?<<
The incidence of homosexuality in the general population is around 2%. I suspect in the Church catholic it is much less. I suggest the dominance in public debate is political distraction, and an attempt to define Christianity only in terms of abortion, homosexuality and fear of Islam.
The full Gospel of love is simply politically unacceptable today, and Christianity must be distracted, compartmentalized and certainly not allowed to criticize the current promotion of warmongering and financial fraud.
Wright is brilliant as always. This could be applied to a whole spectrum of issues.
Where did he speak about this? or is this video a piece of a larger discussion?
He was in Nashville I believe. BW3
Where did he go from the point the video is cut? It seems we aren’t seeing the entirety of his comments.
From the YouTube description:
Part of an interview by Dr. Tod Bolsinger, Senior Pastor of San Clemente Presbyterian Church, at the Pastors Retreat of the Los Ranchos Presbytery held at the Serra Retreat Center in Malibu, CA. Bishop N.T. Wright is the Bishop of Durham in the Church of England.
Actually no…. Tom is no longer the Bishop of Durham. He’s a professor at St. Andrews in Scotland. BW3
Too right. Where are the prophets who challenge warmongering, fraud and corporatocracy?
Noisy pressure groups take away our focus from the bigger issues.
Why the debate anyway, the scriptures are clear, why do we have to find a way around them?
What is driving it?
” For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
