I like this song. But I forgot the original singer of this song. And Hall is still exist.
This song was originally a Motown song, done by a lot of different artists, including the Four Tops. BW3
Dr Ben, My audacity as His creature has been to say that when I meet God I plan to bring up a near fatal flaw in his creation of mankind: when the burdens of life become overpowering we often go home, close the doors and windows and get sucked into the whirlpool of our suffering as we close out family and friends.
Listening to that song – ‘what becomes of the broken hearted…’ reminded me of that audacity as I witnessed and heard about how people I treasured/loved inflicted self-harm on themselves through drugs, alcohol, cutting and suicide.
It also brought to mind an incident involving a pastor – working through the death of his son – the church concluded and communicated to him that he was spending too much time caring for himself and too little time caring for them.
Finally, I recalled the healing balm I received from ‘Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water’ by S&G. Thank God that cassettes were cheap and easily replaceable.
Dr. Ben, I join the multitudes in praying for you and your family as you work through your grief in the midst of the assurances that Christ’s advent and life adds to your experience.
