Thoughts on the National Day of Talking About Prayer

Thoughts on the National Day of Talking About Prayer May 8, 2015

Screen Shot 2015-05-08 at 9.01.25 AM  Yesterday many in the Christian community participated in  the National Day of Prayer and as is my custom, I usually try to watch the Washington DC observance of the National Day of Prayer so that I can broadcast to my audience what took place.  After turning on my computer and watching the livestream of the event, I just have to say that I felt more than annoyed.  Now maybe I shouldn’t feel annoyed, but I did.  The main reason I felt annoyed is because there was very little actual prayer going on.

For years I have thought privately to myself that events like The National Day of Prayer are a waste of time.  Not only do these events cost a ton of money, but they simply bring together big name Christian celebrity types and get people to tune in to watch these big names talk about the issue of prayer, and honestly, that’s mostly what took place yesterday.

I honestly think the National Day of Prayer should be renamed to The National Day of Talking About Prayer because that is what mostly took place. Most likely millions of viewers tuned in to the website and GodTV and just sat there and watched as Christian celebrities talked about prayer, but actually didn’t pray!

Now I have to admit, there was a tiny weenie bit of prayer. Just a tiny weenie bit, not much, but a tiny weenie bit and the Pastor that actually got up and actually did pray just happened to be Korean.  I found it interesting that this Korean pastor didn’t make any personal comments and just simply prayed.  Maybe it’s because as a Korean he understands the actual necessity of prayer, since Christians are persecuted in North Korea and also in parts of South Korea.

Bottom line here, I spent over an hour on Bible News Radio yesterday sharing my thoughts about the National Day of Talking About Prayer, and we played some audio from Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, who completely understands that America is under the judgment of God.

I also shared some audio from Bob Enyart’s radio show where he discussed Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family’s compromise over twenty years ago concerning the homosexual agenda.  If you’re not aware of how the Christian right, and in particular, Focus on the Family (a place I worked for three years) actually compromised on the issues Dr. Dobson is now warning about today, you need to tune in and hear the show.

I think it’s sad that on the National Day of Prayer, people like Louis Gohmert made jokes during his speech, and I think it’s just as sad that people like Dr. Ben Carson only talked about the impact of his mother’s prayers, but did not actually pray!

If America is going to have a revival, it’s about time for the church to actually REPENT and WEEP and PRAY before the LORD for OUR SINS.  You know, the sins of the CHURCH in America.  It is disgraceful that there was none of that yesterday.  No weeping for the millions of babies aborted, no weeping and sorrow for the church advocating for homosexual practice, no weeping for the prayerlessness in the church, no weeping for the pride and arrogance of the Christian leaders in this nation who just build empires with their names on it, and no weeping for forgetting all about what Jesus even said about praying!

Yesterday’s National Day of Talking About Prayer, honestly was nothing more than an old timey revival type church service, where you hear nothing but a pep talk from the pulpit about being a person of prayer and then you get up and walk out.  I’ll put it this way, it was a joke.  We have Pastor Saeed in prison, who actually did pray yesterday and who God has given grace to withstand the persecution and trial he is under and we have here in America, the so called Christian leaders in this nation, BARELY EVEN PRAYING on the National Day of Prayer.

If you want to know why America is under the judgment of God, all you have to do is look at the Church here in America and you’ve found your answer.  If this country is to turn back to God, it’s going to begin with each person who identifies themselves as a follower of Jesus Christ to actually start doing what Jesus said.  Go into your closet and pray in secret.

Enjoy the show!
