“Lend Me a Tenor”

Support Your Local Theater

It’s been a busy day.  A visit from family, a late lunch and long conversation with two friends and former colleagues, then a gathering of the neighbors at a local restaurant followed by attendance at the Hale Center Theater in Orem.  (A group of our neighbors all have season tickets to the Hale Center Theater, and we do this dinner-and-a-play thing regularly; it’s something I look forward to quite a bit, a chance to socialize with busy friends.)

Anyway:  The play was Lend Me a Tenor.  I thought the first half somewhat slow, but the second half was very funny in a fast-paced slapstick way.  The Hale Center Theater usually does light and entertaining comedies — though, sometimes, they do things like To Kill a Mockingbird — and they’re a great way to spend an evening with friends.  And live theater is a quite different experience than movies, which are (obviously) good in their own right.  Anyhow, if you live in the area, give it a try.

When they did Jane Eyre, I saw it twice—and I was a poor college student. It was fantastic!
