We would be heading home this morning after last night’s Mormon/Muslim dialogue here in Idaho Falls, were it not for a performance of Robert Cundick’s The Redeemer tonight on the Rexburg campus of Brigham Young University-Idaho:

Oddly, I remember not particularly liking The Redeemer when I first heard it performed, many years ago. I’m not sure what was wrong with me that night, because Bob Cundick’s “sacred service of music” has long since become a favorite with me. I’m very much looking forward to tonight’s performance. Big choral/orchestral pieces like this take quite a bit of work (and lots of people) to produce, so the opportunity doesn’t come along every day.
My wife and I are involved in an effort (through a specific donation to the Interpreter Foundation) to create a relatively short video “testimony” about Bob’s life and work, and the production crew have already been here, filming rehearsals and interviews. Sadly, Bob passed away on 7 January of this year. But we were able to interview him several times before that. We’ll be interviewed ourselves, this afternoon.
Anyway, if you’re in the vicinity of the Snake River Valley and you have any interest in choral and/or classical music, and/or any interest in being inspired and put into the Easter mood by a piece that’s perfect for the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if some tickets were still available.
