Michael Novak RIP

Michael Novak RIP February 19, 2017

A view of Valletta from the sea
Once, a number of years ago, I was privileged to spend a week in Valletta, the capital city of the Mediterranean island-republic of Malta, as part of a small group that included Michael Novak as we attempted dialogue on the theme of “just war theory” with a group of intellectuals from the Arab world. It didn’t go especially well, but fraternizing with such major thinkers as Michael Novak and Jean Bethke Elshtain, both now gone, was a great and unexpected opportunity for me.

I was saddened, the other day, to learn of the death of the Catholic theologian and social thinker Michael Novak.  Here are a couple of pieces on the legacy of a very important American thinker:

“Remembering Michael Novak”
